I’m always curious to hear the ‘other side of the story’ - the books ‘Pandora’s Jar’ by Natalie Haynes, and Cassandra Speaks by Elizabeth Lesser inspired a ‘rebranding’ of Pandora and Medusa from the Greek Myths and my own interpretation of ‘Eve’.

Pandora, like Eve, is often referred to as a warning, particularly to women, against the consequences of ‘curiosity’. After learning that in the original texts, Pandora and the jar (rather than box) was created to be a pawn in Zeus’s revenge plan against Prometheus I began to get ‘curious’ about her more positive role in the story. Some texts have the jar opened by Epimetheus, or even anciently. Pandora manages to close the lid just in time to keep hope inside. I think it’s time Pandora was rebranded as the ‘custodian of hope’.
